Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we do not, and what happens when you click a buy link.
This policy explains what information Volt & Valley collects when you use this website, why, and what your options are. It is written to be read rather than survived.
The short version
- We do not ask you to create an account, and there is nothing to log in to.
- We collect no personal information except what you type into the contact form.
- We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. It sets cookies.
- Affiliate links pass a tag to the retailer, who then applies their own privacy policy.
- We do not sell data, because we do not have any worth selling.
Information you give us
The only way to send us personal information through this site is the contact form. It collects your name, your email address, an optional phone number and your message. That is emailed to us so we can reply, and it is used for nothing else — no mailing list, no marketing, no sharing with third parties. If you would rather not use the form, email contact@voltandvalley.com directly.
Information collected automatically
Google Analytics 4. We use GA4 to see which pages people read, roughly where in the world they are, and which recommendations get clicked. This tells us what to write next. GA4 sets cookies and collects an IP address, which Google processes according to its own privacy policy. It does not tell us who you are.
Affiliate click events. When you click a buy button we record that the click happened, which product it was for, and which page it came from. That is an anonymous event, not a profile.
Hosting logs. This site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and operational purposes.
Affiliate links and cookies
Product links on this site go through an internal redirect and on to a retailer, with our affiliate tag attached. The retailer — currently Amazon in all cases — sets its own cookie so it can attribute a purchase to us. What that cookie does, how long it lasts and what data the retailer collects are governed by their privacy policy, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure for how the commercial arrangement works.
Cookies you can turn off
The analytics cookies are not necessary for the site to work. Blocking them in your browser, or using an extension that blocks trackers, will not break anything here — no page on this site needs third-party JavaScript to be readable.
Data retention
Contact form emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics. We keep no database of visitors, because we do not run a database.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. In practice the only personal information we are likely to hold is an email exchange you started. Email contact@voltandvalley.com and we will action it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
